TIPS FOR THE DAY - GETTING EXERCISE INTO YOUR DAILY REGIMEN

  • If you start out gradually with exercise, then you are more likely to do it.
  • Start with 5 simple stretches combined with a little core work.
  • Fit it into your day - if you work at a desk then take a few minutes out whilst you stand and stretch.
  • If you need a break for a cup of tea, then use this time to stretch, whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. You are not taking extra time out - just using your time well.
  • For most of us getting our head in the right place is essential before taking on any gym exercise.  If you do too much too soon then it can be off putting.  So start with basic stretching, a little core and some brisk walks for cardio, even if it's from room to room in the office, or to the canteen or back and forth from your car or to the bus stop or walking to and from home.
  • Once you are more active then you can introduce more into your day.
  • Swimming is a great form of both exercise and relaxation.
  • Having a massage can also help to get both mind and body into a relaxed and stress free place.
  • The main thing is to just start with something.... any form of exercise in your daily life is a great start.  Look at it like planting a seed... one which can grow as little or as much as you feel will benefit and work for you.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

TIPS FOR THE DAY - UNWINDING AFTER A LONG DAY AT WORK

1)  Make yourself a cup of tea or a cold drink.
2)  Sit and close your eyes for 5 minutes - cat nap.
3)  Run a lovely hot bath with essential oils such as lavender, chamomile, marjoram, orange, and light some candles and change into something very comfy afterwards.
4)  Make a healthy meal which is not too time consuming and enjoy cooking it - by playing   some music, drinking a glass of wine and really take time to unwind.
5)  Sit in an uncluttered space while you eat, making sure it is not too late and really enjoy your food.
6)  If you have anything that needs preparing for the morning, then do it now, such as making your lunch for work, putting the washing machine on.
7)  Watch some tv afterwards, or read a book - whatever you enjoy doing for an hour.
8)  Once you are sure your food is digested, do some form of exercise or body movement for at least 15 minutes - stretching, dancing/moving to music, whatever you find enjoyable to do, that is not overly strenuous but will help your body to totally relax and eliminate any aches and pains.
9)  Enjoy preparing for bed, washing your face, brushing your hair, massaging creams into your face and hands, or get someone to do this for you and really enjoy it.
10) Go to bed early and take a glass of water with you.
